Walker Stapleton Declares Legislative Session
“The Most Anti-Taxpayer” in Recent Memory
Walker Stapleton, Republican candidate for State Treasurer, today issued the following statement on the adjournment of the 2009 session of the Colorado Legislature:
“This year’s session was the most anti-taxpayer in recent memory. It was marked by wave after wave of back-door tax increases, front-door fee increases and attacks on Colorado’s taxpayer protections. It is a clear lesson of what happens when tax spenders – as opposed to taxpayers – control state government.
“The good news is what didn’t happen. Thanks to taxpayers speaking up, Democrats were unable to obliterate the common-sense 6 percent cap on state spending. They also couldn’t go forward with their plan to subsidize the tuition of illegal immigrants.”
“All Coloradans should be grateful to legislative Republicans who stood tall in the face of a constant onslaught of anti-taxpayer proposals. We’re all looking forward to the day when a pro-jobs, pro-taxpayer agenda returns to the State Capitol.”
Walker Stapleton, CEO of Sonomawest Holdings LLC, a publicly traded commercial real estate company, earlier this year declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Treasurer. He has attracted a long list of prominent Coloradans who are publicly supporting his candidacy. More details can be found at www.stapletonforcolorado.com
